We choose to raise Rainbow Ranger chickens for meat throughout the summer and fall. This is a hybrid heritage breed with more proportionate breast to leg ratios than standard commercial breed chickens. They are hardy and heat-tolerant, are very active and excellent foragers making their meat juicy, robust, and exceedingly nutrient-dense.
Farming For Flavor
Raised and processed right here on the farm, our pastured chickens are moved daily to fresh grass where they forage for bugs, worms, and grubs. They are also fed local non-GMO grains, spent grains from our local brewery, and milk from our grass-fed Jersey cows. They finish at approximately 4-6 pounds and their meat is succulent and flavorful. Our birds are always antibiotic-free.
Nutrient-Dense Foods Go Farther
I can feed my family (five kids, remember!) 3-4 meals with one whole chicken raised here on the farm. The general cycle is as follows: roast chicken, chicken tacos, chicken soup or white chili, and then 2-3 gallons of hearty bone broth for many more meals to come!

Frozen whole chickens are available year-round at the farm (subject to available inventory). Use the drop-down menu to pay a deposit upfront; the balance due will depend on the actual weight of the chicken and can be paid at pickup.
